GOING HOME
Barkley Ray Chism, a retired Air Force veteran and 20 year resident of Las Vegas, Nevada, died peacefully on July 24th, 2015, at the age of 63 at the Veterans Hospital in Los Angeles, California.
Barkley graduated from George Washington High School in Los Angeles, California. He joined the United States Air Force in June 1971. His first assignment was in Tokyo, Japan. Barkley used to frequently say they “were treated like superstars”. Following his first tour he had subsequent tours of duty in Germany and Greece before returning to the United States. He retired in June 1993. He obtained a bachelor’s degree University of Nebraska and obtained numerous certifications as a Microsoft specialist. Upon retirement from active duty, Barkley worked in the IT Department at the U. S. Department of Veterans Affairs, Las Vegas, Nevada.
Barkley was a student, and a fan, of life. His passions were music, playing the drums, dancing, skating, computers, and traveling. He was funny, witty, and caring. Barkley will be sorely missed by family and friends.
