Sanford Mallard Kane

On Sunday, July 21, 2019 Sanford Mallard Kane — son, brother, friend, artist —
passed away in his sleep at age 70. The son of Kimberlin Kane and Sarah R. Kane
was born in Dayton, Ohio, where his father was stationed at Wright Patterson
AFB. Sandy moved with his military family a number of times before they settled
in San Bernardino, California.
He began his study of art in high school and became an accomplished artist,
specializing in portraits. After graduating from San Gorgonio High School, Sandy
joined the Air Force, became a radio relay operator, and was stationed in
Mississippi and Germany. He returned from the service and moved to Orange
County where he lived for many years.
Sandy studied at Cal State Fullerton where he graduated with a BA in art. He was
a big fan of Fullerton baseball teams who received national recognition. He
worked for several years at the JC Carter Co. in Costa Mesa. Sandy pursued his
passion for the arts and was a frequent visitor to local art museums. Sandy was
preceded in death by his parents and is survived by two brothers and a sister.
He will be interred at the Riverside National Cemetery.
